CDROM tray doesn't open!

I have a LG CD-RW unit (CED-8080B) working under Windows 98 which tray is not opening (manualy or by eject function on Windows Explorer) when there is a CD-RW disc inside. Works properlly with CD-R.
Despite of that, I can read the files and write in the disk.
What is happening? What to do?

restart your computer and see if you can open it while you are booting up.
Locate the small hole abt 1/2 mm in diameter on the CDROM panel and insert an opened U Clip in that hole that will forcibly open the tray and eject the CD
Screwdriver, crowbar, dynamite, C-4... :)

Power down PC before manually ejecting via pinhole (suggested by atrangi4u above).

Questions:

Does the CD play, even though it won't eject?
Does it not eject for any disk, or is it just one particular one?

Without knowing further details, here's a few possibilities.

You may have a program running (game, cd player) that makes the PC think the CD's being accessed so it's ignoring your requests to eject.  Ctrl-Alt-Del and look at Applications and Processes tabs (not sure if you have both options in 98) for such programs.  If you find the culprit, kill it to eject the CD.  If it repeatedly causes this problem, try reinstalling the program.

Cables misconnected.  Open case and double-check connections.

Cd Driver problem - reinstall.

Controller problem?

CD itself is bad - Replace.

If all else fails, try connecting the CD to a different cable, to the other IDE controller, and/or to another PC.  This should help isolate the problem.

Good luck...

Thanks folks.
One more information:
The problem only occurs when a (any) CD-RW is used.
When a CD-R is used, the tray works properly.

If you're using DirectCD, you need to update it at www.roxio.com, as it should process when you press the eject button manually and give you options for ejecting the disc.
