Start Menu --> Accessories --> Task Scheduler

Click on Add Scheduled Task.  If you can't find Defrag in the list of programs that it gives you
to choose from select Browse.

If you still can't find Defrag, put a Defrag shortcut on your desktop and then Select browse again and go
to the desktop icon.  Select Defrag and then it will allows you to set up the time and day for the defag along
with the other Defrag options.

but how do i specify the drive?
Greetings virtech,

You can run defrag from the CLI with "defrag c:"

so you would just put this in your task schedule...

alternatively, you could specify a batch file that contains all of the drives you want to defrag and then schedule that batch file to run.

running the defrags concurrently, for a fast system and fast scsi drives would get it all done quicker than running them sequentially but you should test this first.

Also, you will want to stop some services (like MS SQL Server and Exchange) to defrag the disk areas used by these program.

Cheers!!
Before you click the Finish button, there is a check box that allows you to set the advanced options
for Defrag.  Just make sure that you check that box before clicking finish.  You will have schedule 3 different
tasks for your 3 different volumes.  As ekspurt said, you need to make sure that some of the services that
acess the drives are turned off so that you don't interupt the defrag.  I recommend that you schedule the defrags
far enough apart that they don't run into each other.  As ekspurt said you can do them at the same time, but it will
use alot of processor to get it done.  If you have a fast processor, test it out....

windows 2000 has exe files called dfrgfat.exe and dfrgntfs.exe. but unfortunately, it allows them to be run from within "computer management" only.
if you try to run it directly, it produces error.

i dont think without using third party tools you can schedule defrag on 2k..

even i am looking out for one...so listening to this thread

So how does this vbs work to defrag users pc's over a network?  Also to, I would expect norton to halt the script.
